About the village
Green Crafts Village is a small, informal village at Electromagnetic Field 2026 dedicated to traditional green woodworking and heritage craft. We work fresh, unseasoned wood with shave horses, draw knives, secateurs, and a quiet sense of purpose. Drop in for a chat or sign up for one of our workshops through the EMF schedule.
The village sits around a pink geodesic dome (the "Treedesic") with a stretch tent alongside to give space for shave horses and bigger jobs. Last time around, in 2024, we ran Wand Making (for Muggles) from the same dome, which is where most of these photos are from.
"Mulberry, 12 inches" - one of our 2024 wands, tagged in the Ollivanders tradition.
What's on this year
Besom Broom Making (for Witches and Wizards)
Make your own working besom from cleft hazel or birch handles and bundled birch tips. Two-hour hands-on sessions, twice over the weekend. Suitable for ages 8 and up; under-16s accompanied by an adult.
Run by Derek and the Treedesic crew.
Tools and Edges with Henry Sands
Henry, who ran the tool and knife sharpening workshop at EMF 2024, is joining the village again this year. The shape of what he's running will firm up closer to camp - bring your edges along and watch this space.
Details to be confirmed.
We're hoping to add other green crafts to the mix - leatherworking, basket weaving, spoon carving and the like. If that's your thing and you're going to be at EMF, get in touch.
From EMF 2024
Wand making and adjacent green craft in the Treedesic dome, Saturday 1 June 2024.
Find us at EMF 2026
We'll be pitched near our 2024 spot if it's available - opposite the generators, down on the main path. Look for the pink geodesic dome.
EMF 2026 runs from Thursday 16 July to Sunday 19 July 2026 at Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire. Tickets are available through the EMF website; workshop sign-ups go live closer to the event in the EMF schedule.
